11 great uses for baking soda
1.Natural Deodorant: you can make an effective and simple natural deodorant. Just mix a pinch of baking soda with some water or you can simply brush some dry baking soda under your arms.
2.Insect Bites and Poison Ivy: You can use baking soda to relieve itching from insect bites and poison ivy. Make a homemade paste by mixing baking soda with water or try rubbing the dry powder onto your skin.
3.Heartburn, Indigestion, and Ulcer Pain: Baking soda neutralizes stomach acid, and relieves heartburn, indigestion, and even ulcer pain. For this purpose use a ½ teaspoon fully dissolved in a ½ glass of water, and consume it every two hours (you shouldn’t take more than seven ½ teaspoons in 24 hours, or three ½ teaspoons if you’re older than 60). This should only be used as an occasional treatment.
4.Foot Soak and Exfoliator: Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda to a tub of warm water for a vitalizing foot soak.
5.Relaxing Soak: You can make a wonderful spa-like bath for soaking if you mix apple cider vinegar and baking soda. It also cleans the tub and the drain, as a bonus!
6.Hand Cleanser: in order to make a natural hand cleaner that will successfully neutralize odors and scrub away dirt you should mix 1 part of water and 3 parts baking soda.
7.Splinter Removal: Take a small glass of water and add a tablespoon of baking soda, then soak the affected area twice a day. Most of the splinters will come out on their own after a couple of days.
8.Sunburn Remedy: prepare a lukewarm bathwater and add ½ cup of baking soda, then soak in the tub for natural relief. Then, let your skin air dry for extra relief.
9.Enhanced Sports Performance: Runners need a soda doping — or taking baking soda capsules — before races to increase performance.
10.Tooth and Gum Paste: Toothpaste containing baking soda improves plaque removal more effectively than brushing with a non-baking soda toothpaste. You can prepare a mixture of 6 parts of baking soda and one part of sea salt and gum paste. The results are amazing.
11.Teeth Whitener: If you want to whiten your teeth, you should make a mixture of one ripe strawberry and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Then, spread the mixture onto your teeth and wait for 4-5 minutes. Brush your teeth and rinse. You shouldn’t use this method more than once a week because you could potentially damage your tooth enamel.
