Does Drinking Alcohol Cause Cancer? The Answer Will Surprise You!

A recent study presented Addiction, alcohol can cause breast, oropharynx, larynx, colon, esophagus, rectum and liver cancer.

Another epidemiological study reveals that alcohol contributes up to 5.8 percent to all cancer deaths around the world.

Does Drinking Alcohol Cause Cancer? The Answer Will Surprise You!

On the other hand, the study did not show the biological relationship between alcohol and cancer. The studies haven’t confirmed that alcohol is the right cause for cancer.

This fast increase of cancer can be caused by alcohol. But, other factors such as poor sleep quality, poor lifestyle habits and lack of exercise develop cancer even more.

Another study showed that light drinking is also a potential cause of cancer.

The specialists have reviewed more than 136,000 participants over a 30-year period and found out that people who smoke or have already quit smoking, have increased risk of cancer than those who have never smoked.

So, smoking is an important factor that can lead to alcohol-related cancers.

Alcohol-Related Breast Cancer Recurrence

So, does drinking alcohol cause cancer in women?

The American Cancer Society claims that even a few drinks per week can increase the risk of breast cancer. Women with low folate levels have increased risk of breast cancer.

Does drinking alcohol cause cancer in men?

Alcohol affects the level of hormones in male population. Chronic alcohol consumption can cause testicular failure and infertility.

Alcohol contains active phytoestrogens that naturally occur in lentils, soy, wheat, sesame andflax seeds.

In Asia, the soy-based products tend to have lower breast cancer rates but that’s not the case in the USA.

The increased rates of estrogen are related to the increased rates of cell growth in the development of growth of prostate and breast cancers.

But a reasonable consumption of alcohol does not increase the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.

Nowadays, Colon Cancer Affects More People Under 50

Does drinking alcohol cause cancer even under 50?

Colon cancer is related to the consumption of alcohol. The journal Cancer published a study that reveals that 1 person out of 7, are diagnosed with cancer was under the age of 50.

Younger people can also develop symptoms of this disease such as anemia, bowel blockage or bloody stool even under 50.

The International Agency for Research into Cancer discovered the relationship between cancer and alcohol consumption. In 1988, alcohol was classified as the Group 1 carcinogen.

In 2011, a study found out that around 4 percent of the cancers in the UK are associated with alcohol consumption.

Alcohol consumption can lead to mouth or throat cancer and colorectal cancer.

In 2004, Nutrition and Cancer presented a study which discovered that there is a 70 percent increased risk of colon cancer in people who consume more than one alcoholic drink every day.

The Risk Starts Right in The Mouth

One particular compound that plays a key role in the development of cancer from alcohol is acetaldehyde.

This metabolite can damage your DNA and is linked to cancers in the larynx, pharynx, esophagus and liver.

The liver breaks down alcohol thus forming acetaldehyde. It stimulates the growth of liver cells whichcan be genetically mutated. This process can cause liver cancer.

A bacteria that is living in the gut and mouth can break down alcohol. As a result, the level of acetaldehyde increases, and the mouth, larynx, esophagus, and pharynx are exposed to cellular DNA damage and increased chance of oral cancer.

Sugar, Another Key Contributor to Cancer

Since it is a carbohydrate. Your body metabolizes alcohol into sugar and increases the level of high blood sugar and insulin resistance. So, alcohol can contribute to obesity.

In 2013, the Credit Suisse Research Institute discovered that 40 percent of the healthcare expenses are for diseases which are associated with increased consumption of sugar.

There are new cancer cases in 30-year people with high BMI or those who are overweight and obese. About 25 percent of the cancer cases are associated with the increased BMI.

Without sugar, cancer cells can’t produce the necessary energy to survive. So by reducing the intake of carbs you actally starve the cancerous cells.

In this video, Mr. Travis Christofferson, describes how nutritional ketosis treat and prevent many types of cancers.
