Causes Of Restless Leg Syndrome
There are two different types of this syndrome: primary and secondary. Their causes are different.
Primary restless leg syndrome is genetic syndrome. The reason is hidden in the part of the brain responsible for monitoring. The secondary type can be caused of many different factors, including pregnancy, anemia, damaged peripheral nerves, impaired kidney function, and degenerative diseases of the spinal column.
Sometimes, RLS can be just another side effect of some pills and unhealthy habits, including alcohol, coffee, nicotine, antipsychotics, and antidepressants. The medical diagnosis is based on laboratory results (hormone status), clinical picture, and blood test and kidney samples. Patients are advised to take more minerals, vitamins, to do some exercises, but sometimes they are prescribed analgesics or tranquilizers. It all depends on the medical diagnosis. In most of the cases, an iron deficiency causes this problem, so patients are advised to consume more red meat, prunes, and beets, to increase the levels of iron in their body.
How Can You Alleviate The Symptoms?
The symptoms can be eased with by getting up and waking up around at the same time. Experts advise people to stretch just before bedtime. It meansthat you should sit on the floor while you are stretching. When you are ready with this exercise, you should slowly bend the torso to the feet to be able to reach the hands. Stay in this position for 2-3 minutes. Another excellent solution is warm bath before you go to bed. Another thing that you can do is walking in a fresh air or some simple exercises during the day. Some people choose to practice yoga because it includes stretching, relaxation and deep breathing. Don’t forget that you should avoid drinks that contain caffeine such as coffee and black tea. Beverages that contain caffeine are bad for the general health because they have bad influence on the blood.
