Waking up early is important, but that doesn’t mean that you should spend the whole day in front of the TV and not doing anything productive. So, start your day with the following good habits which will improve both your mental and physical health.
1. Set your internal clock.
We all have our own internal clock that controls our natural cycle of sleeping and waking hours. Each person has its own individual sleep schedule that is connected to the release of melatonin. Melatonin helps your daily sleep-wake cycles. When sleeping over 9 hours, then higher level of melatonin is produced. But, it should not be taken as a supplement without previously consulting your doctor.
2. Wake up on time.
Try to get up without snoozing your alarm. Getting up few minutes later is useless. Moreover, snoozing can cause mental disorders such as depression and anxiety.
A morning stretch is the best thing you can do for your body. In this way, your will relax your muscles and boost your energy. Start practicing this physical activity every day and you will no longer feel exhausted as soon as you get up.
4. Start the day with exercise
The morning is the time of the day when you need lots of energy. So, don’t make excuses that your don’t have time to do that. You should always dedicate some time to exercising.
5. Do not skip breakfast.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. At this period of the day, you should consume foods which are rich source of iron. In this way, you will prevent anemia and boost your energy. Your breakfast menu should consist of: dark green leafy veggies (spinach is the best choice), then peanut butter or beans, eggs, iron-fortified cereals, bread and pasta.
6. Drink lemon water.
Substitute your morning cup of coffee with a glass of lemon water. In this way, you will increase your energy levels, improve the function of the digestive tract and boost your metabolism. Plus, it will keep you fuller for longer and reduce your sugar cravings.
7. Read before bed.
Turn off the light and shut down all electronic devices at least an hour before you go to sleep. Instead of watching television read a book.
8. Dress like you mean it.
By wearing comfy clothes you’ll signalize your brain that it’s time for relaxing. So, put on some elegant outfits and wear them with confidence.
9. Practice mental activities and enjoy the silence.
Relaxing your mind is very important, so dedicate a few minutes of your time to do that. Listen to relaxing music, meditate, and try to visualize your future success. These activities will motivate you and keep you active during the entire day.
10. Do not sleep in.
In order to keep up with the sleeping schedule, you should get up every morning at the same time. This rule is applied for weekends too.
