The products that contain margarine are marked to be healthy in the supermarkets, and the ones that contain butter are considered to be unhealthier.

However, that is not completely true. Some types of butter and margarine are very similar, so there is no way to tell the difference between them. Margarine contains trans-fats that are very dangerous for the human health. Margarine is a much cheaper version of butter and it started being massively produced in 1903.

Soon after the start of mass production, experts discovered that if hydrogen mixed with the vegetable oil, it can create a product that is more spreadable and more solid.

However, those who were responsible for the production of margarine did not know that trans-fats can cause serious problems on our overall health. Experts claim that trans-fats act differently when they enter the body with unsaturated and saturated fats. According to them, the human body needs them in order to function properly.

Fats like omega 3 and omega 6 are extremely important for the function of the brain. Also, fat-soluble vitamins like vitamins A, D and E, are also very important because they have the ability to transport all the fat throughout our body.

Trans-fats also have a different molecular structure. According to a study from 2008, the energy that is taken from trans-fats increases the risk of coronary artery disease by 23%.

Back in the 1950s, butter was considered to be not so healthy. Studies from the 1950s discovered that butter contained high levels of cholesterol that can be found in animal fat. So, this connected butter to health problems. However, a few years later, that turned to be wrong.

We are all aware of the fact that fat which can be found in bread and sugars, is the reason for the development of some cardiovascular problems.

As you can see, both butter and margarine are not as healthy as you think. That’s why we recommend you to avoid eating them.
