According to the team of specialists in Addenbrookes Hospital at Cambridge, a patient came to the hospital suffering from strong headaches.
When the patient come back after a while for some additional tests, he complained of new symptoms including weakness and seizures.
He told them that he had recently visited South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and China, which are known as the countries with the most reported cases of the parasite known as SpirometraErinaceieuropaei.
After he was diagnosed with a sparganosis infection, the doctors removed the worms with surgery because surgery is the only way to stop this infection.
Taeniasisis an infection caused by parasites, Asian tapeworm, pork tapeworm and beef tapeworm. People can get infected with these tapeworms by consuming undercooked or raw pork or beef.
People can get infected by these tapeworms in two ways:
1. By consuming under-cooked pork from infected pigs.
2. Through contact with human feces or swine.
