Oreo cookies are definitely the most favorite desserts to millions of people in world, especially in the USA. They were introduced for the first time on the market 100 years ago. However, it turns out that these sweet cookies have a negative side too.
The newest studies show that Oreo cookies have the same effect on the brain as drugs. Students at Connecticut College and their professor of neuroscience carried out a thorough examination of Oreo cookies and what kind of reaction they make to our organism. When they were given to lab rats, they provoked the same effect as when they consumed drugs.
Professor Joseph Schroeder said that their research confirmed the theory that high sugar foods have the same influence on the brain as drugs. It is a typical addiction and that is the reason why you cannot give up on these foods, even though you know that they are bad for you. Moreover, in the research was explained that these cookies are similar to strong drugs, such as cocaine and morphine. The cookies encourage the pleasure center in the brain in the same way, and in some results, they caused even greater reaction than the drug response.
